Identify the account with your history

Moving to a different device can make a familiar game look as if you are starting over. Before playing further, establish which account holds your original progress and items. Use Epic’s official sign-in and support pages; do not rely on someone offering to move an account through chat.

Epic’s current support instructions say each platform account you use should be linked to the same active Epic Games account for progress to sync. The important step is finding the right existing account first. Creating a second one during a rushed setup can make the situation harder to understand.

Treat linking as a deliberate change

Read the linking instructions for the platform you are adding. Record which account is currently connected, without copying passwords or recovery codes into an ordinary note. If a warning says that a platform account already has a connection, stop and follow the official recovery guidance for that situation.

Do not assume that linking will combine the histories of two accounts. Likewise, unlinking is not a harmless way to refresh the screen. Review the consequences described by Epic before changing the association. This guide is about avoiding a mistaken setup, not transferring ownership or bypassing account restrictions.

Distinguish progress, items, and currency

Seeing your usual items does not establish that every balance will be identical on another device. Epic’s purchase and progress guidance identifies V-Bucks as having separate cross-platform rules. Check the wallet instructions for your exact platforms before assuming a discrepancy means a purchase was lost.

Make a second purchase only after the account situation is clear. If something still looks wrong, record the item or balance in question and the platform where it appears. Keep order details for an official private support request, rather than posting a full receipt publicly.

Use a short test session

Once the right accounts are connected, sign in on the new device and check a familiar item or progress marker before scheduling a long session. Review control settings, audio, and privacy choices because moving devices can change the practical experience even when the account data is present.

If the problem remains, use Epic’s support route linked below and explain the exact sequence of events. “Console A worked, I linked console B, and this item is missing on B” is far more actionable than “my account disappeared.” Avoid repeated linking changes while waiting for guidance.
